Tell us about the location in the photos.

These photos were taking on a helicopter tour, starting in Canmore, Alberta, to the peak of Mt Assiniboine. I can honestly say it was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had, and to do it in the middle of winter just made it that much more impressive. The mountains are so clean and eerie looking in the winter, especially when you are flying over their peaks. If you, or anyone, ever get the chance to go, then go. And take the front seat.

How did you get started in photography?

I have always been interested in photography. From when I was young using my parents old film cameras, to (embarrassingly) working as a school portrait photographer, to now. I have always enjoyed everything about taking a photo, which has ultimately lead to where I am today.

Does anything in particular influence your photography style?

People, and nature. I have always enjoyed taking portraits and bringing out a person’s most interesting qualities in a photo. I also enjoy camping, and being out of the city in nature as much as possible. I will always have a list of my most favourite and inspirational photographers, but it is these two things together that motivate me most.

What photography gear do you use?

Canon 5D Mark III, 50mm f/1.2, 35mm f/1.4, iPhone 5S and whatever else I can get my hands on.

Are there any products you swear by?

Well, right now I can’t get enough of the 50mm 1.2. That lens is just great. For a while my favourite thing was a Blackrapid sling strap, but that has been replaced by my Ona messenger bag, and no camera strap.

What is your dream adventure photography location?

I can’t say for sure I have in particular, one dream destination. There is a very long list of places I would like to go, and I’m not really that picky. Everywhere has the potential to make great photographs, you just have to find it.
