Tell us about the location in the photos.

Tremblant or Mont-Tremblant is a ski resort located 2 hours from Ottawa and a 1 and a half hour drive from Montreal in the Quebec Laurentian Mountains. During the winter months it is my second home and I usually spend 2 days a week here skiing. I don’t usually make it up as often during the summer but there is still much to do in the area. Over the past few years my wife and I have gotten more into hiking and It’s been a great way to explore the mountain in a completely different way.

In the past we had hiked up the soleil and south sides but this time we decided to take the gondola up and hike across to the slightly higher Johanssen peak for some different views. This trail wasn’t as challenging as going straight up the mountain but due to the length we were still exhausted by the end. Tremblant is a great place to enjoy the outdoors in all seasons and is also constantly rated the top ski resort in eastern North America. My main travel tip I tell people about this place is to avoid the tourist trap restaurants on the resort and rather eat at the locally owned restaurants in Old Tremblant & St. Jovite.

How did you get started in photography?

I really started getting interested when the first DSLR cameras started coming out. At first I was into abstract and nightlife photography. My interest started to dwindle when point and shoot cameras became the norm as thus the quality of photographs I was being exposed to regularly were generally un-artistic.

When I finally joined Instagram in 2012 and discovered the talent within the community it definitely sparked a renewed interest. Suddenly I found myself going on hikes, walks and drives mainly motivated by sharing photos.

Does anything in particular influence your photography style?

I’ve always had an interest in warm vintage style tones. Prior to Instagram, Scott Hansen and his blog ISO50 were a big inspiration. Some of the first users on IG I was really inspired by were Seth Hallwood, Owen Perry and Jared Chambers.

What photography gear do you use?

Canon EOS Rebel T1i (Stock + 50mm and 70-300mm lenses) and iPhone 5.

Are there any products you swear by?

I’ve been using photoshop for over 15 years and I’m amazed how much quality editing you can do on a phone these days. My go to apps are Pic FX, Afterlight, Mextures and VSCO.

What is your dream adventure photography location?

My wife and I drove up Highway 1 in California last year and it was an absolute dream. I would do it again any day.
