Tell us about the location in the photos.

I fell in love with NYC since my very first visit a few years ago. There’s something special about this city and although I get to visit it once or twice a year, every trip feels like a new adventure. I wanted to capture the big and small things that caught my attention and share NYC from my point of view. It is such a magical place, that even the most mundane object can become interesting and hypnotizing.

If you’ve ever been to New York, you know exactly what I mean. And if you still have not gone, put it in your bucket list. It’s more than a trip or a city, it’s an experience. Oh, and bring your camera!

How did you get started in photography?

I am not a professional. I am a Designer but I’ve always loved photography, and although I took some classes in College, it was never something “serious.” I began shooting – a lot – back in 2008 when I purchased a used Canon 20D and some lenses. I photographed everything that would cross my path, projects at work, my kids, nature, architecture, you name it… Once I learned how to really operate my camera and was comfortable experimenting, I began challenging myself and practiced a little bit of everything: fashion, editorial, advertising, landscape, documentary, children and even wedding Photography.

Fast forward a couple of years, and a few hundred photo folders saved up on hard drives, and I am still practicing every day and trying to absorb and learn as much as I can. Whether as a hobby, passion, or for work, Photography is part of my every day life.

Does anything in particular influence your photography style?

Whoa, so many Photographers! I know I’m going to forget more than half, but here’s an attempt to name a few that have inspired me since I was a kid. Off the top of my head… James Nachtwey, Richard Avedon, Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Charles C. Ebbets, Annie Leibovitz, Kevin Carter, Michael Muller, David LaChapelle, the extremely cool Art Strieber who I had the huge pleasure of meeting and interviewing, Mary Ellen Matthews, Bill Cunningham, Greg Marinovich, Patrick Hoelck, Martin Schoeller, Eric Ogden, Steve McCurry, Sam Jones, Scott Schumann, Matthew Rolston, Joao Silva, Tom Munro, Jeremy Cowart, Ken Oosterbroek. Oh, and Bryan Adams – Yes, the singer. Dude’s got some impressive work. As you can see, the list is pretty eclectic.

What photography gear do you use?

When I travel, a Canon 5D Mark II and my two favorite lenses. Canon 24-105mm & 50mm. Used a Canon 20D for a long time.

Are there any products you swear by?

Canon. It’s been a great relationship so far. I’m also loving all Herschel products for carrying and traveling.

What is your dream adventure photography location?

Ha! So many places. It’s a very long list…
