Tell us about the location in the photos.

I grew up in Byron Bay and even though I no longer live there, I often find myself back there. Byron Bay is the most east point of Australia. The beach’s have white sand and crystal clear water. It is a favourite surf town for many and during summer it is a favourite tourist destination for national and international travellers.

How did you get started in photography?

I worked as an Electrician for many years before I made the transition to photography. I started with a cheap secondhand digital camera and I slowly fell in love with the medium. It has become a big part of my life. I find myself experimenting with different cameras and mediums. More recently I have been shooting medium format film mostly.

Does anything in particular influence your photography style?

A lot of music influences my style. I believe in getting in tune with the voice of my subjects and capturing a melody in my work. It helps me create something that I feel has depth to my images. Sometimes its quiet and sometimes it can be loud.

Other then that, I look at a lot of film photographers and fashion photographers for inspiration in my wedding work. I am a big believer in drawing inspiration from other mediums and letting then help you with your work.

What photography gear do you use?

I use mostly Canon equipment. I have a couple Canon 5D MKiii with various L glass lenses. I love prime lenses more so then a zoom. I shot a lot of my personal and travel photography on film. I have an Canon EOS 3 and a Mamiya 645 that I shoot with the most. I sometimes get out the old Olympus OM1 for a few sneaky shots as well.

Are there any products you swear by?

I think my Doc Martin boots get me everywhere! I couldn’t travel as much as I do with out them. My Canon cameras are very hard wearing and I can always rely on them to last a trip. I also love my LaCie Rugged hard drives to keep all my files safe whilst I am on the road.

What is your dream adventure photography location?

Where to start? I would love to visit more of my home country. Travel around central Australia in the desert. I would also love to go to Antarctica. I think that would be amazing. I am very into minimal landscapes that have amazing textures.

Iceland has always been on the top of my list as well. I think I am happy to travel anywhere. There are so many beautiful places in this world including where I live.
